Duke Dumont made us a dance-heavy Coachella 2015 playlist

Posted on

Grab your flower crown and heart-shaped sunglasses: It’s Coachella-week!

Hundreds of thousands—okay, one hundred thousand—of music lovers and festival-goers are preparing to head to Indio, CA this weekend for Weekend One. But they aren’t the only excited parties—the billed acts can’t wait either. Duke Dumont, who released his latest track “The Giver (Reprise)” last month and is billed for both Sunday sets (times have not yet been released) and DJing at Annie Mac Presents Coachella’s pool party during the second weekend, is one such act. To celebrate, or just fuel the excitement a little further, he made us a playlist of tracks from Coachella acts he can’t wait to see.

Put on your dancing shoes; this one will have you moving.

Duke Dumont, “I Got U”

“Shameless self-promoting from the opening is how I’d like to start—deal with it. x.”

Vic Mensa, “Orange Soda”

“Hearing this song is what made me reach out to Vic to record together. He’s probably the rawest talent I’ve worked with in the studio.”

Hot Chip, “Boy From School (Erol Alkan Rework)”

“Erol was the only guy who would book me for shows, or ask me to do remixes, when no one else did. I’m eternally grateful to Erol for that. This is my favourite of his remixes.”

Claude VonStroke, “Vocal Chords”

“Henry VIII looking motherf—er who pours way to much measures of alcohol.”

MK, “Burning”

“MK made this in 1992! For all those fake-ass deep house producers—they need to have a think if they’ll still be making house music in 23 years. If not…change styles!”

Gesaffelstein, “OPR”

“My former labelmate from when we both used to release music on Turbo Recordings.”

Kaytranada, “At All”

“Probably one of my favourite new artists to emerge within the last few years.”

Caribou, “Odessa (David Wrench’s Drumapella)”

“This song was a direct ‘inspiration’ to a song I made called ‘Drumapella.’ Please don’t call Marvin Gaye’s lawyers, Dan—I ain’t Robin Thicke.”

Todd Terje, “Preben Goes To Acapulco”

“Probably my favourite record in this list…The craftsmanship on this record is second to none.”

Flying Lotus, “Do The Astral Plane”

“A lot of love for Fly Lo. Used to play this within a house set.”

the Weeknd, “What You Need”

“My favourite male vocalist around right now.”

Ratatat, “Alps”

“Instantly takes me back to the place where I first heard this … One of the few acts I’d like to hear way more music from, for years to come.”

The Gaslamp Killer, “Anything Worse”

“My favourite GLK track!”

Jamie xx, “Gosh”

“New one from Jamie XX’s new album…Myself, Jamie, Annie Mac, and Kaytranada will be DJing together at a pool party during the weekend.”
