As the old sage Ferris Bueller once said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Here in EW’s music department, we feel the same way about music on the internet. There are amazing songs whizzing across the web every day, but if you blink at the wrong time, you could miss your new favorite track. So, behold—our roundup of the best new songs we heard this week:

Janelle Monae — “Yoga” featuring Jidenna

Superficially, “Yoga” isn’t the most complex Monáe composition; it certainly wouldn’t place in Electric Lady’s upper tier of songs. But in both Lady and The ArchAndroid, the tracks have been pieces in a concept album. So the verses’ silly, more overt sexual references are more tongue in cheek than inane. With two great albums to her resume, Janelle has earned the benefit of the doubt. I mean, did you hear that hook? Try to resist clapping along to its build-up and harmonizing while plugged in in a public space. —Will Robinson
