Disney is in the early development stages of a live-action Winnie the Pooh, EW has learned. Alex Ross Perry (writer-director of Listen Up Philip) is set to write the adaptation, as first reported by Deadline. As Deadline also reported, this version will focus on Christopher Robin as an adult.
This announcement comes on the heels of Disney’s plans to release live-action versions of several classics including Dumbo (with director Tim Burton), Beauty and the Beast, and another Alice in Wonderland. Disney most recently revealed plans to develop a live-action Mulan with a script from Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek, produced by Chris Bender and J.C. Spink.
