Actor Robert Z’Dar has died at the age of 64, according to People. Z’Dar was best known for playing the title role in 1988’s horror movie Maniac Cop and its two sequels. His lengthy list of acting credits also included the 1989 Sylvester Stallone-Kurt Russell action film Tango & Cash and 1991’s Christian Slater-starring Mobsters. Z’Dar died of cardiac arrest in Pensacola, FL., where he was attending the Pensacon convention.

Bruce Campbell, who appeared in the first two Maniac Cop movies, has paid tribute to Z’Dar. “Bob played a lot of bad guys, but he was a sweetheart,” the Evil Dead star tweeted on Monday. “Safe travels, amigo.”
