You can’t always get what you want—unless what you’ve craved for the last eight years is a Rolling Stones stadium tour in the States. The veteran rockers announced today that they’ll embark on a 15-city North American tour this summer, beginning May 24 at San Diego’s Petco Park.
The Stones also revealed an upcoming reissue of 1971’s Sticky Fingers, due out May 26. That album, of course, features the ubiquitous, Warhol-designed cover art of a pair of jeans’ groin area—which explains the tour’s unfortunate name, the Zip Code tour. With songs like “Satisfaction” and “Start Me Up,” we’ll give you this one, guys.
In what has become standard operating procedure for the group’s performances, the Stones promise a stage extending deep into the audience, massive video screens, special effects, and hits-filled sets—but say they won’t skip on “special gems” from the rest of their catalog. Some of those will likely be Sticky Fingers deep cuts; the reissue will contain unreleased Sticky Fingers outtakes and live recordings from around the album’s release.
The past couple of years have been tough for the band, and contributed to the postponement or cancellation of many of the events scheduled to commemorate its 50th anniversary. Singer Mick Jagger’s girlfriend L’Wren Scott died in March 2014, and longtime Stones saxaphonist Bobby Keys died in December.
