The legendary pirate Jack Sparrow might be damn near invincible, but the man playing him is still very human.
The hand injury that Johhny Depp suffered on the Australian set of the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Dead Men Tell No Tales, will halt the production for twice as long as initially expected.
According to E! Online, filming will resume on April 15, after the 51-year-old actor had to fly to the U.S. for surgery to fix his injured hand on March 11. The delay was originally supposed to last only two weeks, but when doctors learned that a pin would have to be placed in Depp’s hand, the delay was extended.
A source familiar with the production says Depp’s injury will not delay the release date of Dead Men Tell No Tales, which is set to hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
This has been the second major delay on the film, after a tropical cyclone paused production back in February.
