One Direction’s Zayn Malik has left the band, according to their Facebook page. The news comes on the heels of Malik’s announcement last week that he wouldn’t be joining One Direction for the rest of their tour because of stress.

“My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined,” Malik said in a statement. “But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I’d like to apologise to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.”

The rest of the band—Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson—will continue on without Malik. “We’re really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally respect his decision and send him all our love for the future,” they said in a statement. “The past five years have been beyond amazing, we’ve gone through so much together, so we will always be friends.”

One Direction sans Malik will be on their world tour until it concludes Oct. 31 in the U.K. But even though they’re no longer a quintet, relive their time together with the movie trailer for One Direction: This is Us:
