Still fresh off his Oscar winner for Best Actor, J.K. Simmons has been cast in the action-thriller The Lake, along with Charlie Bewley (Twilight) and Diarmaid Murtagh (Sons Of Liberty), EW has confirmed.
The story focuses on a group of Navy SEALs who attempt to solve a long-forgotten mystery while uncovering an immense treasure hidden in a lake in war-torn Serbia.
Bewley and Murtagh will be joining already cast Sullivan Stapleton (300: Rise Of An Empire) as three of the four leads in the film, while Simmons will have a smaller role as the rear admiral and leathery boss of the SEALs, according to Deadline.
The feature, written by Luc Besson and Richard Wenk, will be produced by Besson’s EuropaCorp and directed by Steven Quale (Into The Storm). It is set for a July 15, 2016 release.
