Nearly six years ago, Chris Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault committed against then-girlfriend Rihanna. Legally, it’s now all history. A California judge ended Brown’s probation Friday, marking the first time since June 2009 that Brown is no longer under the supervision of the legal system, via the Associated Press. Before and after his hearing, the 25-year-old took to Twitter to keep his fans in the loop.
After the hearing, the singer’s attorney Mark Geragos said, “I couldn’t be more delighted,” adding: “He is in a spot right now and a place right now that I couldn’t be prouder of him.”
Brown assaulted Rihanna on Feb. 8, 2009, before that year’s Grammy Awards, where the two were scheduled to perform. Brown later turned himself in to the Los Angeles Police Department and charged.
