My Morning Jacket previews 5 new songs in album trailer

Posted on

My Morning Jacket’s seventh studio album, the 10-track The Waterfall, isn’t due out until May 4 via ATO/Capitol Records, but the band released a two-minute trailer for the collection Thursday. The clip features the Louisville-based quintet recording at Stinson Beach’s Panoramic House studio and previews five of the tracks off the album.

When frontman Jim James and the band (guitarist Carl Broemel, bassist Tom Blankenship, keyboardist Bo Koster, and drummer Patrick Hallahan) announced the album and shared its first single, “Big Decisions,” earlier this month, James said in a statement, “For me, every record has the spirit of where we made it. Stinson Beach was so psychedelic and focused. It was almost like we lived on our own little moon out there. It feels like you’re up in the sky.” Mission accomplished, Jim—the featured music—as Rolling Stone points out, “Spring (Among the Living),” lead single, “Big Decisions,” “Compound Fracture,” the opener “Believe (Nobody Knows),” and “Get the Point”—is a teaser for a psychedelic, spacey collection that we can’t wait for.

Preorder is available here
