Disney’s live-action Cinderella remake is well on its way towards easily winning this weekend’s box office.
According to the forecasters at Box Office Mojo, the latest version of the classic fairy tale is on track to make an estimated $60 million in ticket sales, with some estimates going as high as $70 million, after its $23 million take on Friday. While it’s not farfetched that a lavish adaptation of a much-loved children’s story would easily win over moviegoers in a way that another movie about Liam Neeson killing lots of people might not, Cinderella has a bit of a leg up—Frozen Fever.
As big as Cinderella is, in 2015, Frozen is bigger—and a new seven-minute short reuiniting the cast is a huge draw.
Expected to fill out the top five this weekend are the Liam Neeson actioner Run All Night (with an estimated $10 million), Kingsman ($6.6 million), Focus ($6.2 million), and The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel ($6.1 million). It’s going to be a pretty tight race for the number three spot.
