Emily Hampshire promoted to series regular on '12 Monkeys'

Emily Hampshire has signed on as a series regular for season 2 of 12 Monkeys.

This announcement comes right on the heels of Thursday’s news that the show had been picked up for a second season.

Hampshire played the recurring role of Jennifer Goines through the show’s first season, the female equivalent of Brad Pitt’s Jeffrey Goines in the 1995 film version.

Jennifer is an erratic, ranting and seemingly unhinged math genius, who meets Cole in a high-security psych ward for the criminally insane and leads him on a twist-filled journey to track down the virus her estranged father created—the virus that will eventually become the plague that destroys humanity.

The series also stars Aaron Stanford (X-Men: The Last Stand), Amanda Schull (Suits), and Kirk Acevedo (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes).

12 Monkeys airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on Syfy.
