A previously unreleased St. Vincent track, “Teenage Talk,” debuted at the end of the March 8 episode of Girls, and while the song is not officially released, it has now surfaced online. The rhythmic, mid-tempo track focuses more on St. Vincent’s haunting voice than the electronic beats to which the artist has recently adhered.
“Teenage Talk” was a demo reportedly left off St. Vincent’s self-titled album that was released last year, but then Girls music supervisor Manish Raval got ahold of it.
“I said to St. Vincent’s people, ‘We love Annie, and she and Lena are friends. Is there anything laying around?’” Raval told Billboard. “They sent us a demo of a song called ‘Teenage Talk’ that she hadn’t released yet and it was amazing. Lena flipped for it.”
