Once again, mtvU is taking its Woodie Awards to the South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, and this year the master of ceremonies will be none other than Bleachers frontman and Fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff. It will be Antonoff’s third different role on the Woodies stage, as he performed at the all-day Woodie Awards Festival with fun. in 2012 and with Bleachers last year.
“It means a great deal to me to be hosting the Woodies because Fun. played the Woodies before we had any success and the same for Bleachers last year,” Antonoff said in a press release. “It’s been a platform for the two bands I’ve most recently been a part of to really go somewhere. I couldn’t be more excited to come back and host the show.”
The rest of the lineup for the Woodie Awards is still forming, though Big Sean has already confirmed that he will be performing on the show, and about-to-be-huge UK trio and Woodie nominee Years & Years will make their U.S. TV debut on the broadcast. Presenters will include Whiz Khalifa, Tove Lo, Zoe Kravitz, and a lot more to come. Last year’s show not only featured Bleachers but also Iggy Azalea, Childish Gambino, the 1975, Echosmith, and Vic Mensa.
The voting is currently open for the 2015 Woodie Awards, with artists like Drake, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, and Sia competing for coveted blocks of wood. The show airs live on MTV on Friday, March 20, at 9 p.m. Eastern.
