YouTube yanks 'Power/Rangers' fan film

If you didn’t see that Power/Rangers fan film on YouTube yet, it’s a little too late, as the site has pulled the video.

A message on the YouTube page where the video, Power/Rangers, once resided now reads,“This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by SCG Power Rangers LLC.”

The bootleg film was producer Adi Shankar and director Joseph Kahn’s take on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, starring James Van Der Beek and Katee Sackhoff as former rangers who are contending with a bleak future controlled by machines.

The 14-minute short film took the unrealistic and colorful world of the original Power Rangers series and made it all “gritty,” similar to other installments of Shankar’s “Bootleg Universe.”

A Lionsgate-produced big-screen (and non-parody) version of the ’90s children’s franchise is planned for a July 2016 release.
