Oliver Stone's 'Snowden' set to open on Christmas

Filming for Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone’s latest movie, Snowden, is currently under way in Munich. Open Road Films has set the release date for the film on Dec. 25, 2015, as filming will continue until mid-May.

The cast is chock-full of stars. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to play the titular character, and is joined by Academy Award-winning actress Melissa Leo along with Shailene Woodley, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson , Rhys Ifans, Joely Richardson, and Timothy Olyphant. 

Snowden is written by Stone and Kieran Fitzgerald with a screenplay adapted from the books “The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man,” by Luke Harding (a foreign correspondent with the Guardian), and “Time of the Octopus,” penned by Snowden’s Russian lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena.
