Watch the Night Terrors of 1927 perform 'When You Were Mine' live in the moonlight

Night Terrors of 1927, the new synthpop collaboration between Blake Sennett (former lead guitarist of Rilo Kiley) and Jarrod Gorbel (former frontman of The Honorary Title), is enjoying the release of its debut LP Everything’s Coming Up Roses—an open-hearted, at times operatically dramatic, highly addictive collection.

“When You Were Mine” was included on the duo’s second EP, Anything to Anyone, as well as the album featuring Tegan and Sara, and it’s a big lift; an emotional, complex, pop-rock track that begs comparison to The Killers and Muse anthologies. Thursday they’re releasing a video for a more intimate version. Filmed on a Sony A7S (holy night vision!), the duo perform the track acoustically at Joshua Tree National Park in the dead of night, and what was once a big, big track becomes something personal and raw—Gorbel’s voice more nuanced, their arrangements somehow seeming more sincere, and the story of a breakup coming through at heart center.

Stream the video below and read on for a full list of tour dates.
