Kendrick Lamar follows up Grammys wins with seething new track, 'Blacker the Berry'

Fresh off his Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance win for the cheery and Grammy audience-friendly “i”—the Recording Academy’s mea culpa of sorts for his Best Rap Album snub last year—Kendrick Lamar has dropped a new, decidedly more venomous track with “The Blacker the Berry.”

Where “i” says “I love myself,” on “Blacker the Berry,” Kendrick turns the mirror around to his detractors, saying “You hate me, don’t you/ You hate my people, your plan is to terminate my culture.” And he does it all with the same ferocity he became widely known for on good kid, M.A.A.D. city.

On a totally unrelated (but probably completely related) note, Kendrick was reportedly absent from Sunday night’s Grammys, and didn’t mention his win on Twitter.
