HBO has renewed the dark comedy Getting On, for what will be its third and final season.
Getting On, from the creators of Big Love, will film its final six episodes this year, EW confirmed.
The series centers around the staff at a women’s geriatric long-term care unit in a dysfunctional Long Beach, Calif., hospital, who attempt to fight the medical bureaucracy.
The cast consists of Laurie Metcalf, Alex Borstein, Niecy Nash, and Mel Rodriguez, whose characters care for their patients and each other in their own imperfect and darkly comedic way.
Getting On is based on the original BBC series of the same name, created by Vicki Pepperdine, Joanna Scanlan and Jo Brand. Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer created the show for American television and executive produce.
The series averages a gross audience of 1.6 million viewers per episode.
