Beck won the Album of the Year award at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards—and he looked just as surprised as everyone else when his name was announced.

The award was for Morning Phase, his 12th studio album. The record came out in February 2014 to overwhelmingly positive reviews, including EW’s own summary of the album: “This isn’t just good Beck, it’s best Beck.”

In his speech, Beck thanked people who helped on the album, including his family: “We made this album in my house for the most part,” he said. “I’d like to thank my kids for keeping them awake a little extra longer.”

This was Beck’s second win of the night after nabbing the award for Best Rock Album.
