Marion “Suge” Knight was officially charged with murder and attempted murder on Monday after a hit-and-run last week that left one man injured and another dead.
Following an altercation last Thursday outside a Compton restaurant, Knight was allegedly driving his truck when he ran over two men who were standing in the parking lot. One man was injured and the other, Terry Carter, 55, was killed. The driver quickly left the scene.
Knight, who has been out on bail on a separate robbery case, is now being charged with one count of murder, one count of attempted murder, two counts of hit-and-run, with the allegation that he also committed a serious and violent felony while on bail in a pending case, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.
The complaint also includes use of a deadly weapon, and allegations of causing great bodily injury. The fact that Knight has previous convictions will make this a third strike. If convicted, Knight could face up to life in state prison.
Knight is scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday and is being held without bail.
