Hermione as Belle? We recast the 'Harry Potter' cast as Disney characters

Posted on

It was announced Monday that Emma Watson will be playing Belle in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. She couldn’t have been more perfect for the role, right? Hermione and Belle have so much in common, from their love of books to falling for an unlikely man (or beast, in Belle’s case.)

To honor that, we’ve re-cast Harry Potter characters into Disney characters because magic might not be real, but Disney magic is.

Jamie Waylett and Josh Herdman (Crabbe and Goyle): Hyenas, The Lion King

Arguably, Whoopi Goldberg’s best role. Although Crabbe and Goyle would probably stick closer to the cupcake table rather chasing Simba through the hot desert.

Clémence Poésy (Fleur Delacour): Elsa, Frozen

Based off looks alone, Poésy is the obvious choice for a real-life Elsa. They also both come off a bit icy, so the cross-over definitely has potential.

Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley): Sebastian, The Little Mermaid

Strictly for red-headed reasons.

Shirley Henderson (Moaning Myrtle): The Magic Mirror, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Moaning Myrtle is taking her insults to the mirror, and she isn’t afraid to say who is really the fairest of them all (Spoil alert: it’s Harry.)

Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom): Aladdin, Aladdin

Look, Matthew Lewis, Aladdin was misunderstood too. And Neville might have never been the Harry Potter-hottie, but things have definitely changed.

Alan Rickman (Severus Snape): Scar, The Lion King

Scar and Snape have mood swings and deep-rooted jealousy issues. Who better to play the slick-haired brooding wannabe king?

James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley): Tuck and Roll, A Bug’s Life

Bringing back the mischievous Weasley twins is essential no matter what the platform.

Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore): Rafiki, The Lion King

There would be so much nostalgia in Michael Gambon reciting the line, “Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it you can either run from it or learn from it.” Dumbledore’s Army, forever.

Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge): Ursula, The Little Mermaid

Umbridge is the worst, so adding Umbridge-style punishment to the Little Mermaid storyline would make Ursula the most evil Disney villain, ever.

Maggie Smith (Professor Minerva McGonagall): The Fairy Godmother, Cinderella

Professor McGonagall was a soft, but stern mentor. And hey, the Fairy Godmother had her rules too.

Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood): Snow White, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Luna was one of the only other students aside from Harry able to see the thestrals. It’s not a far stretch to imagine her running through the forest and asking her bird friends to help her find a few elusive nargles.

Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy): Lotso, Toy Story 3

Serrrious daddy issues. Maybe Tom Felton could help Lotso get his life together like Draco did?
