Nicolas Cage has been cast in the comedy Army of One, the story of a man who attempted to capture Osama Bin Laden all by himself. The film will be directed Larry Charles (Borat) and is a semi-scripted, “loose retelling” of an article published in GQ. Cage will take on the lead role based on Gary Faulkner, a Colorado man who “picked up a pistol and a samurai sword to sneak across the Pakistan border to hunt down Osama Bin Laden.” Principal photography is to begin in early 2015 and there are hopes for an end-of-year release. David Henrie (Wizards of Waverly Place) will be starring as a young Ronald Reagan in a new biopic, Reagan. The film is to be told from the point of view of a KGB officer ordered to watch Reagan through his early days as an actor, SAG president, and “staunch anti-communist.” No director or other cast members have been announced yet. Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) and Rooney Mara (Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) are testing for the female lead in a Star Wars spinoff set to be directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla). Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) was also said to have been on the “want list,” but might have scheduling conflicts due to her part in the upcoming Da Vinci Code sequel, Inferno. No plot or character details for the film have been released. There are currently two Star Wars stand-alones in development. [The Hollywood Reporter]
