Ahead of its series premiere, E! has renewed The Royals for a second season, it was announced at the Television Critics Association’s winter TV previews.
The series, which debuts Sunday, March 15 at 10 p.m. ET, centers on a fictional modern day royal family, including Queen Helena (Elizabeth Hurley) and King Simon (Vincent Regan), as well as their devious and scandalous royal twins Prince Liam (William Moseley) and Princess Eleanor (Alexander Park).
“To renew this freshman series before its highly anticipated first season premiere underscores E!’s commitment to the scripted genre and our confidence and support of this groundbreaking and rule-breaking original series,” said Jeff Olde, E!’s executive vice president of original programming and development. “We’re thrilled to have Universal Cable Productions joining Lionsgate as a co-producing partner as we announce a second season pick-up for this scandalously fun series.”
Additionally, House of DVF, the docu-series focusing on Diane von Furstenberg, has also been renewed for an eight-episode second season.
