Taylor Negron, the actor and comedian who delivered Jeff Spicoli’s pizza in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, traded stand-up jokes with Tom Hanks in Punchline, and played a creepy villain in The Last Boy Scout, has died. “I want to inform you that my cousin Taylor Negron just passed away” said his cousin, Chuck Negron, in a video. “His mother, his brother Alex, and my brother Rene, and his wife Julie were all there with him. May he rest in peace.”

Negron, a revered club comedian who also appeared in Easy Money, Better Off Dead, and sitcoms like Friends, Seinfeld, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, reportedly had been battling cancer. The 57-year-old native Californian started his career as a teenage intern for Lucille Ball. After establishing himself in the Los Angeles stand-up scene, he got his first TV break on The Dating Game, and in later years, he became a recurring guest on Hollywood Squares. He eventually starred in 130 movies and TV shows, and even when the parts were small, he had a look and a manner that made him stand out. He was a master raconteur, as illustrated by a recent childhood tale he weaved about the time during the Manson scare that he received a monkey for Christmas, courtesy of The Moth:
