Sip your way through the Golden Globes with our drinking game

GG Highlights 026
NBC

The Golden Globes are one of the more relaxed shows of the awards season, perhaps owing to the presence of alcohol. And since the stars will be drinking the night away, so should you (as long as you are of age, drink responsibly, and so on and so forth).

Because regular ol’ drinking can get boring, here’s a drinking game for you and your Golden Globes-watching crew (or just you, no judgement here) to play, beginning when the show kicks off at 8 p.m. on NBC.

Take a sip if:

-Someone references the recent Sony hacking drama.

-Matthew McConaughey says something only McConaughey would say.

-Quvenzhané Wallis does something adorable.

-The camera cuts to an audience member who was just the subject of a joke and they look displeased.

-Someone mispronounces a name, à la John Travolta calling Idina Menzel “Adele Dazeem.”

-Someone makes a joke about John Travolta calling Idina Menzel “Adele Dazeem.”

-You see Bill Murray.

-Joaquin Phoenix does or says something that makes you go, “huh?”

Take a couple sips if:

-Benedict Cumberbatch unintentionally does something that will within seconds be turned into a Tumblr meme.

-Someone mentions how intoxicated they are.

-Someone brings a drink onstage.

-Someone gets political in their acceptance speech.

-The camera catches an audience member toying with their phone.

-Someone breaks out a selfie stick.

-Someone makes a joke about Bill Cosby.

Take a few sips if:

-Julia Louis-Dreyfus teams up with the hosts for some shenanigans.

-Poehler makes out with someone in the audience.

-George Clooney makes a move in the ongoing prank war he’s fighting against Poehler and Fey.

-Someone trips on the way to the podium.

-Someone’s acceptance speech goes too long.

-Someone makes a joke about Ben Affleck’s junk.

Finish off your drink when:

-The show ends. How else are you supposed to deal with the end of Poehler and Fey’s three-year Golden Globes hosting residency?
