Pulitzer/Hearst-centered TV drama in the works

Posted on

The 1890s: The era of the x-ray’s discovery, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and yellow journalism. Oh, and the brutal feud between publishing hotshots Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst.

This battle of the titans is the basis for a new show in the works from The Jackal Group and screenwriter Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan, The Patriot) called Park Row. Based on true events, the show will follow all the tension, debauchery, and controversy surrounding the two publishers and their fight to be no. 1.

Pulitzer and Hearst weren’t known for their ethics in the journalism business, making more money than friendships. The series plans to focus on their scandalous careers, in an era filled with sensationalism and bias.

Rodat previously created the TNT series Falling Skies and will act as executive producer of the show along with The Jackal Group’s Gail Berman.

No word yet on casting or what channels are hoping to snatch up the series.
