HBO is doling out the quickest of teases as viewers wait for Game of Thrones‘ fifth season, and a new clip offers a look at… well, it’s difficult to exactly say.
Through its teaser campaign site Three-eyed Raven, HBO has offered fans who sign up for text or email alerts a new, seconds-long look at the new season.
Subscribers to the website received a link to the teaser, but it was originally intended to only be watched once. Thanks to some clever fans, the quick teaser has been preserved and posted online.
So what does that trailer show? Not much. There are quick shots of Sansa and Arya Stark, Tyrion and Cersei Lannister, a creepy face in a rock wall, and a few other mysterious images. And it doesn’t look like anyone’s having a good time in Westeros.
More than anything, the Three-eyed Raven campaign seems like a tease for a tease—a full trailer is likely on the way that will actually give some sense of the imagery in the teaser. That won’t stop curious fans from trying to suss out whatever they can from the small clip, however. The footage has been slowed down and enhanced by some users for those hoping for a closer look.
The website has already released an earlier teaser, focusing almost entirely on Arya Stark.
Fans can sign up for further updates at the website, or wait until the new season premieres in 2015. And for those who don’t have an HBO subscription—or can’t get a hold of their parents’ log-in information, HBO may be lining up its standalone streaming service to coincide with the new Game of Thrones season.
