Pottermore day four: cursed necklaces and Quidditch chasers

Posted on

Festive Surprise Day 4

A new day brings a new riddle to solve on Pottermore.

Today’s riddle is brought to you by Katie Bell, a member of the Quidditch team at Hogwarts:

In snowy Hogsmeade, there’s a frightening scene,

Four students watch Katie Bell rise and scream,

The Gryffindor student falls victim to a dastardly scheme,

But what position does she play on the Quidditch team?

The position that Bell played was chaser. Today’s new material doesn’t involve text or new revelations about the wizarding world—it’s a visual depiction of how Bell encountered the cursed Gaunt necklace. The cursing occurred in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: “At once, Katie rose into the air, not as Ron had done, suspended comically by the ankle, but gracefully, her arms outstretched, as though she was about to fly. Yet there was something wrong, something eerie… Her hair whipped her by the fierce wind, but her eyes were closed and her face was quite empty of expression… Then, six feet above the ground, Katie let out a terrible scream. Her eyes flew open but whatever she could see, or whatever she was feeling, was clearly causing her terrible anguish. She screamed and screamed…”

Stay tuned; Pottermore is expect to release eight more days of new material and Hogwarts paraphernalia.

Head to Pottermore to watch how Bell accidentally got cursed.
