Glee‘s Matthew Morrison is making his return to Broadway as the star of Finding Neverland.
Morrison will play J.M. Barrie in the musical based on Allan Knee’s play The Man Who Was Peter Pan and the 2004 film which starred Johnny Depp as the Peter Pan author. Morrison last appeared on Broadway in the 2008 revival of South Pacific, before he became known as Glee‘s Will Schuester. Morrison played Barrie when the show was being workshopped, but Jeremy Jordan took it on for its run at the American Repertory Theater this past summer.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to see Matthew returning to his Broadway roots and back to the role he created in our workshop,” producer Harvey Weinstein said in a statement. “He is wildly talented and a true leading man.”
The show, directed by Diane Paulus, is set to begin previews March 15, 2015.
