Every Assassin’s Creed title has sent players to a different time period, but usually each iteration stayed put in a single historical era. Never has an assassin jumped from one period to another, though that looks to be changing in Assassin’s Creed Unity.
In the game’s new trailer, protagonist Arno is going for a jaunt atop a rooftop during the French Revolution, when suddenly, the world transforms around him. Suddenly he’s transported to a much later moment in France, climbing around the Eiffel Tower as a gunship barrels down on his position.
Ubisoft is remaining mum on what this means for the game’s story, but the game’s historical recreations have never involved time travel like this before. Whether it’s a glitch in the system from some slacker in IT or the hint of something more sinister, players won’t find out until the game comes out on Nov. 11.
