It was supposed to be a trailer, but that leaked last week. Nonetheless, Marvel Studios decided to keep its promise and give viewers of ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. a new look at the upcoming sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Instead of a trailer, it was footage from a party scene early in the movie — which EW wrote about during our First Look cover in July.
Marvel later played this clip at San Diego Comic-Con — Earth’s mightiest heroes engaged in a battle of ego: Who can lift Thor’s hammer?
Then the footage dovetails into the trailer we’ve already watched 70 million times since last Wednesday.
The best things about this clip? It’s a toss-up between Black Widow not feeling the need to play the boys’ reindeer games, and the look of brief panic on Thor’s face when Captain America manages to make it budge.
It’s all fun and games until a horrifying robot zombie named Ultron crashes the party.
After a day of big news from Marvel, this felt a little like one of their trademark post-credits stings.
