Christina Aguilera is returning to The Voice for the show’s eighth season, NBC announced today. Aguilera, who was one of the show’s original coaches, will join Voice regulars Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and seventh season newbie Pharrell.
That means the lineup for the season, which will begin in early 2015, will look very similar to the lineup for the ongoing seventh season, with Aguilera returning to her seat in place of Gwen Stefani. “We are excited to welcome Christina back to her red chair and can’t wait to see how she mixes things up among Adam, Blake and Pharrell, in what will be an incredibly competitive competition,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC Entertainment’s president of alternative and late night programming, in a statement.
Aguilera last occupied her swiveling Voice chair during the show’s fifth season, alongside Levine, Shelton, and Cee Lo Green. Aguilera gave birth in August.
