Andy Mientus is going from Smash to The Flash.

The Broadway actor, currently playing Marius in Les Miserables, has been cast as Hartley Rathaway, aka Pied Piper in CW’s new DC comics-inspired series The Flash, EW has confirmed. Mientus will appear in episodes #111 and #112 as the bona fide genius who seeks revenge on his former mentor, Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh), by destroying his new protege The Flash after the same particle accelerator explosion that created Barry Allen’s superpowers causes Rathaway to lose his hearing. Pied Piper is one of the only openly gay villains in the DC Comics universe and will be portrayed that way on TV.

The Flash premiered on Tuesday and quickly became one of fall TV’s breakout hits with 4.5 million viewers. Grant Gustin stars as costumed crime-fighter Barry Allen on The CW series. In addition to Mientus, Victor Garber and Prison Break co-stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will also guest star this season.

The Flash airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. on The CW.
