UPDATE: Following publication of the original article, an Apple representative declined to comment on Re/code‘s report.
ORIGINAL STORY: The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus had a tremendous first week in sales, but Apple isn’t looking to rest easy through the rest of the year. A new rumor suggests the company may be announcing updates to several of its other products in the next few weeks.
According to sources speaking to Re/code, Apple will hold a special event on Oct. 16 detailing updates to their line of iPads. Rumors have suggested these new versions could include the next generation of the iPad Air, but no definite details have been announced.
Re/code‘s sources also suggested that Apple’s OS X Yosemite will be touted, while 9to5Mac‘s sources hint that iMacs with retina display will also be on hand. The event, however, is expected to be a bit quieter than September’s coming-out party for the Apple Watch and the iPhone 6.
Rumors about such an event have persisted for several weeks, though earlier reports suggested it would be held on Oct. 21. Either way, updates to Apple’s iPads would not be an unexpected announcement, especially coming shortly after Amazon announced new tablets and eReaders in September. The last changes to the iPad line were announced in October of 2013.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
