Naomi Campbell joins 'Empire'

Posted on

Naomi Campbell is set to recur on Fox’s Empire, the hip-hop drama from Lee Daniels and Danny Strong.

Empire centers around a hip-hop enterprise run by Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), who will stop at nothing to protect his dynasty. According to a press release from Fox, Campbell will play Camilla, “an alluring woman involved in a steamy affair with the much younger potential heir to his father’s throne, Hakeem (Bryshere Gray), over whom she exercises considerable influence.”

“Naomi is a beautiful actress. Underrated in my mind,” Daniels said in a statement. “She will be wonderful as Camilla. I am truly thrilled to have one of my close friends join us.”

Campbell will join a distinguished cast, which already includes Taraji P. Henson as Lucious’ ex-wife, Cookie Lyon, and Gabourey Sidibe as Lucious’ assistant, Becky.

Empire is set to premiere in early 2015 on Fox.
