The Magic Mike sequel, Magic Mike XXL, will, sadly, not feature Matthew McConaughey, but another romantic comedy veteran will appear. EW has confirmed that Andie MacDowell of Groundhog Day and Four Weddings and a Funeral fame is a new addition to the follow-up to 2012’s male stripper movie. Variety first reported the news.

MacDowell joins returning cast members Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello, and Matt Bomer in the sequel, which has been described as a road trip movie. Gregory Jacobs, who served as first assistant director and producer on Steven Soderbergh’s first Magic Mike movie, will direct, but Soderbergh will acting as cinematographer, camera operator, and editor. MacDowell starred in Soderbergh’s 1989 Sex, Lies, and Videotape.

If Magic Mike was a step on the road to McConaissance, perhaps Magic Mike XXL will bring on the McDowaissance.
