'Rising Star' trailer: Ludacris is tired of waiting for results

Rising Star made sure to cover its genre bases when selecting its judges: Country singer Brad Paisley, pop star Kesha, and rapper Ludacris will all critique performances on the new ABC singing competition show, hosted by Josh Groban.

In the latest trailer for the upcoming series, all four stars explain the show’s premise — and how viewers are the ones making the decisions.

Performers will sing in front of a wall as viewers watch the performance live and vote “yes” or “no,” using their phones. If the performer gets enough votes, the wall will rise, revealing him or her to the audience and judges; the panel will offer input, but has no say in whether the performer ultimately gets eliminated. (So they’re not really judges so much as… wait, what are they?) If the performer doesn’t get enough votes, the wall will stay down, and that person will be sent home.
