A group of Iranian teens were arrested Tuesday for posting a video to the Internet of themselves dancing to Pharrell Williams’ “Happy.” Yahoo News reports that the group of six young teens were arrested in Tehran as a means of preventing the spread of what the country deems to be “decadent” Western culture.

As news spread of the arrest, many outside of Iran, including Pharrell himself, took to social media to express their distaste on the matter:

It’s beyond sad these kids were arrested for trying to spread happiness http://t.co/XV1VAAJeYI

While a few social media posts claim some of the dancers have already been released from imprisonment, according to AP news reports, no independent confirmation from authorities stating the youths have been released from custody have been made.
