Have you always wanted to be recruited into the Marvel universe? Did you, like me, dream of one day becoming Maria Hill or Jane Foster or Pepper Potts? Well, you might want to grab a quinjet (or a helicarrier, if those still exist) and get yourself to New York City this summer.
In conjunction with Discovery Times Square and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the National Academy of Sciences, Marvel has announced the world premiere of Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. (that’s Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network to you), an interactive exhibit that brings fans into the popular world of The Avengers. The experience will allow visitors to undergo a simulated recruitment, similar to if they were being recruited as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents (uh, never mind, there is no S.H.I.E.L.D. anymore. We can still pretend to be Maria Hill.)
After said recruitment, fans are invited to enter the official S.T.A.T.I.O.N. headquarters, where they will become completely immersed in the world of the The Avengers. Visitors will experience classified studies, and will be able to explore the history and science behind all of their Marvel favorites, including Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk and Thor. They can learn how to use Iron Man’s suit, or they can test out their own Captain America abilities (the Captain America 2 Smithsonian exhibit come to life!) And this visit isn’t just about secret files — your visit also grants you access to highly important artifacts that played an essential role in the Battle of New York, such as Loki’s scepter. (Just don’t try to use it. Trust me.)
The exhibit opens May 23, 2014. For more information, including ticket prices, check out Discovery Time Square’s website.
