If you’d like to tear up at work, now’s your chance! The new trailer for The Fault in Our Stars is here.
The latest trailer for the film based on the bestselling novel by John Green takes the same romantic beginning as the first trailer, and then adds in more cry-to-laugh scenes, including Hazel’s (Shailene Woodley) discussion with her parents regarding pot, and Augustus’ (Ansel Elgort) already-iconic “It’s a metaphor” cigarette explanation.
Other exciting highlights for fans of the book include an extended look at Patrick (Mike Birbiglia) singing cheesy songs in the teen cancer support group he runs, as well as the assurance that many of Green’s passages made the cut: “I fell in love with him the way you fall asleep: Slowly, and then all at once,” Woodley explains via voiceover.
Interestingly, although fans catch glimpses of Isaac (Nat Wolff) as well as Hazel’s parents (Laura Dern and True Blood‘s Sam Trammell), there is still no shot of famed reclusive author Peter Van Houten (Willem Dafoe), but we do see Hazel reading An Imperial Affliction. Perhaps Van Houten’s appearance is a treat producers are saving for the actual movie?
