It’s one thing to have your singing competition show thumped by NBC’s The Voice. But to get shown up by The Sing Off? Ouch!
Thursday night’s ratings had Fox’s The X Factor vs. NBC’s Sing-Off. Both reality competitions performed weakly, but NBC’s campy a capella series managed to edge out Factor among adults 18-49 (see chart below), though Factor had the lead among total viewers. The NBC show was down 22 percent from last Wednesday’s premiere to mark a series low for a December edition of the show, however, while Factor was down 14 percent from last week (this cannot help the show’s renewal odds). Sing-Off helped boost Sean Saves the World slightly, but by the time The Michael J. Fox Show aired NBC’s lineup was back to status quo.
Over on ABC, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland matched its rather non-magical season low for its fall finale. Grey’s Anatomy‘s fall finale jumped 17 percent from last week’s series low, and the Scandal fall finale was up 7 percent to a two-month high. CBS’ lineup is potentially inflated in the early numbers due to NFL preemption in Denver, while The CW was steady. Full chart:
