'The Blacklist''s Signature 'Do Is a Real Don't

Fans are not happy about Megan Boone’s brown wig

Posted on

Not since Keri Russell’s decision to chop off her long curls on Felicity have fans been as annoyed about a TV character’s hairstyle as they are about Megan Boone’s locks on NBC’s The Blacklist. Shortly after the drama’s debut, viewers made their dissatisfaction known about Boone’s brunet wig — which the actress, who plays FBI agent Elizabeth Keen, was asked to wear by execs in order to hide her pixie cut. Now Blacklist‘s producers are equally irked that Boone’s hair has become such a thing. “We’ve all talked about it, God knows, more than we ever thought we would,” laments executive producer John Eisendrath. “We are aware people talk about it. Megan is a great actor. It seems like it’s not as consequential as what she’s doing [on screen].” His writing partner Jon Bokenkamp questioned whether there’s a double standard, since James Spader, who sports a bald cap as Red, isn’t the target of similar ire. (Maybe because his actually looks real?) Still, it appears Boone’s fake hair today will (eventually) be gone tomorrow. Says Eisendrath, “She’s probably going to grow her hair out, so the wig will be a thing of the past.”
