'Dancing With the Stars' pros talk Celebriquarium vs. 'Sexy Bus Stop'

Aside from a Tuesday night results show, the most notable element missing from season 17 of Dancing With the Stars is the Celebriquarium — that gilded iPhone lounge where co-host Brooke Burke and the contestants used to live and play during the telecasts. Our beloved fishbowl is no longer, and instead the Sparkaliens must sit like commoners in a no-frills section of the audience Tom Bergeron referred to as a “Sexy Bus Stop.” What did Our Pros think of the abrupt switch? Mark Ballas, Cheryl Burke, Derek Hough, Karina Smirnoff, Val Chmerkovskiy, Sharna Burgess, and Peta Murgatroyd weighed in with EW after the premiere. Watch below!

As you can see, it’s a mixed bag — some like being up close to the action, while others miss the security of being off-camera long enough to go through their pre-dance rituals. Derek’s idea to put a whoopie cushion under Bruno Tonioli’s chair is definitely a winner.

Of course, Val’s reply was the best: “This is irrelevant to me.”
