Cory Monteith’s real-life girlfriend and Glee co-star Lea Michele has issued her first public remark following Monteith’s death July 13.
On Twitter, she posted a beach shot of Monteith and herself together, along with the message, “Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support. Cory will forever be in my heart.”
Michele’s rep issued a statement July 16, saying, “Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends, and fans. Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them. They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory’s family.”
UPDATE: On Instagram, Kevin McHale, who plays Artie on Glee, also released a statement today. He wrote, “So thankful that I and so many of you got to experience Cory’s overwhelming kindness, humor and talent. There will not be a day that goes by that I won’t miss him. Thank you all for your incredible support and patience,” alongside an on-set photo of Monteith and McHale, below.
Last week, the Glee family gathered for a private memorial to honor their friend and co-star. “Today, Ryan Murphy and Lea Michele gathered the cast, crew and producers of Glee, along with colleagues from the network and studio, to share memories and music in an emotional celebration of the life of Cory Monteith,” Fox said in a statement to EW. “We thank the public for their continued outpouring of love and support as we grieve our friend and colleague during this difficult time.”
