Steven Soderbergh donates $10K to Spike Lee's Kickstarter campaign

Spike Lee’s nascent Kickstarter campaign to fund his yet-untitled movie about “human beings who are addicted to blood” just got a big-ticket backer: Steven Soderbergh.

The Oscar-winning director pledged $10,000 to Lee’s campaign, garnering him access to some Spike-centric-prizes (hype-typed by Lee in all-caps, of course), including dinner with Lee and a seat next to him at a Knicks game (score!).

Lest the prizes overshadow Soderbergh’s good will, his manager had this to say:

“Steven has a long history of supporting fellow filmmakers, sometimes with even less incentive than courtside seats to the Knicks,” Soderbergh’s manager told EW.

Lee originally confirmed Soderbergh’s pledge to MTV’s NextMovie blog.

Soderbergh is one of three backers in the $10,000 pledge category. Lee’s Kickstarter goal is to raise $1.25 million by August 21, and as of press time, he had north of $107,000. Check out Spike’s Kickstarter message below:
