On July 10, actress Cote de Pablo, 33, announced that she was giving up her gun on NCIS after eight seasons of playing Agent Ziva David, and there’s one very vocal segment of the CBS procedural’s viewership that is not happy about it. That would be the so-called ”Tiva” shippers, a term given to fans who have long advocated for a romance between the show’s professional partners Ziva and Tony DiNozzo, played by Michael Weatherly, 45. De Pablo is poised to exit the series sometime during season 11, which premieres on Sept. 24. Meghan Avery, a webmaster for fansites ncis-source.org and tonyandziva.org, says Tiva fans are not yet ready to say goodbye to the duo’s playful teasing and flirty banter. ”They built it up so much that you expected it to continue to build in season 11 or finally actually happen,” she says. ”Now that she’s going, [the relationship is] just going to go downhill.” Producers for the show are promising to give Ziva’s story line ”appropriate closure.” Which we hope is more romantic than it sounds.
