'Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter'

Our preview of the latest in the ”One-Shot” series from this year’s Comic-Con

Posted on

The latest in Marvel’s ”One-Shot” series of shorts explores the post-Captain America heroics of British operative Peggy Carter, with Hayley Atwell (TV’s The Pillars of the Earth) reprising her role in the 2011 film as an analyst with the nascent S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. She’s searching for the enigmatic ”Zodiac” key while also battling a sexist, bureaucratic boss (The West Wing‘s Bradley Whitford) who thinks women have no place in the secret-agent business. ”He knows her background but insults her by saying the only reason why she’s gotten anywhere is because she was the girlfriend of Captain America,” says director Louis D’Esposito, who’s also co-president of Marvel Studios and made last year’s One-Shot film, Item 47. ”We know that’s not true, but he’s intentionally suppressing her.” Dominic Cooper turns up in the 15-minute movie as Tony Stark’s father, Howard, along with some other surprise cameos from the Marvel cinematic universe.
