'Under the Dome': A boy and his dog

The new TV series Under the Dome debuts in three weeks. You might know that the show is about a lovable All-American small town which is suddenly cut off from the outside world by a mysterious invisible dome. You might also know that the show is based on the 1000-page Stephen King novel of the same name, in which case you know that A) things get very freaky very quickly and B) the show is set in Maine. Both the show and the book function as an allegorical examination of contemporary America, with resources running low and society tearing itself apart. But some new art released for Under the Dome finally pays attention to the greatest tragedy of all:

A boy. His dog. Separated. Look at how the dog puts his little doggy paw up against the dome! Look at how the kid puts his little kiddy paw up against the other side of the dome! Jesus, I’m not even a dog person, and I’m already crying a little bit. Here’s the full-sized image:
