More casting news for Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. to share: EW has confirmed that Angel star J. August Richards has joined the cast, but, true to form for the top-secret series, no one is saying much about the role he will play.

A pilot for S.H.I.E.L.D. was shot earlier this year with Whedon directing and co-writing with his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. Richards joins Clark Gregg, who will appear as Agent Coulson, a role he’s played across several films in Marvel’s mega-grossing superhero universe. Ming-Na, Brett Dalton, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, and Chloe Bennet also star as members of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.).

While there’s been no official word on when the series will premiere, ABC entertainment president Paul Lee sounded confident at the network’s press day in January that the project would get a series order, calling the series “a big franchise for us” and speculating that it “could go anywhere” on the network’s schedule.
